Loving the Boppy...

The Boppy is a "C" shaped pillow designed to make holding the baby easier. We've found that it has other uses as well:

Liz who?

Siobhan is under the impression that I had the baby, not Liz. When she talks about it with others, specifically her Nana and Aunt Barbara, she refers to the baby as "Mike's Baby." When she is corrected that Liz had the baby, Siobhan responds with a giggle and says, "No, Mike's Baby."

Poopzilla

Not much explanation needed. Our lives are revolving around diapers, day and night. In the last couple of days, we have seen an increase in the amount of dirt in the dirty diapers--and we've been very excited about it. Is that sad?

Paula Meets Lily!

Aunt Paula meets Lily for the first time!

Bath Time and Aunt Paula

Lily had a little sponge bath, and Aunt Paula came for a visit with her FIANCE Steve (wedding in May!). They spent the whole afternoon with us. We can't wait for them to have their own baby!

Lily and the Valentine's Snowstorm...

We've said it all along, particularly in the last few months of warmer Winter weather, that we would get hammered by the snow the moment that Lily arrives. It's too bad we didn't bet any money, maybe we'd have seen the same blizzard in greenbacks!

It turned out to be a pretty good Valentine's Day, though, as we got to bring Miss Lily home. Liz had a little infection yesterday that prevented a Tuesday homecoming, but today we got the all clear. Lily was perfect in the car, and snug as a bug in a rug. We didn't get home until late, but my Mom had made chicken parmesan and it was waiting on us when we got home. My parents are supposed to go back on Saturday, but I'm hoping for another blizzard that will keep them here a little longer.

I'm adding a few pictures of coming home from the hospital, we'll see what the night brings as far as what stories I'll have to tell about Lily's first night in her own bed. (Well, actually, she's sleeping in the bed that my mother slept in when she was a baby, as well as her sisters, my brother, my sister, and I, and many others in our family...)

More tomorrow--with more pictures of the grandparents trying to see who can spoil her the most. Good night! (I hope!)

By the way:

The first picture here is of Liz's OB/GYN, who delivered the baby, Dr. Weissman. The next one is of Liz and the baby in her "Coming Home" outfit. We then see Liz and Lily in the car, with her mommy and daddy at home, and finally in the crib where is currently, hopefully sleeping for at least the next two hours.

The Southern Grandparents Are Here!

My parents arrived from down South today. They came in for the week! They both got to hold their granddaughter...who is only the second girl born(besides my sister) in 167 years on my dad's side. My parents were thrilled! The first few pictures are of my parents, then some of the visitors we've had: Aunt Jean, Aunt Karen, Uncle John, Grandma Dolly, and more of Liz's parents.

Lily is doing great. She has a slight touch of jaundice - we thought she was just a little tan, but the nurse said it would go away on its own, no need to worry. Her complexion seems to be a little darker than ours, but Doug has a Greek background and has the same sort of complexion.

We're hoping to go home tomorrow, barring any infections or early snow storms. We can't wait to get Lily home, mainly because it will be more comfortable to fall asleep holding her on our couch than it is in the hospital chairs.

More Baby Pics and Movies

So I woke up yesterday morning to go to the hospital, and lo and behold--there's a giant blow up stork in the front yard. Many Many thanks to the Scully family, who I'm sure have no idea who they're messing with. Their little one is coming soon, but I've got PLENTY of time to dream up something good! When I went home last night, I was hysterical as I noticed, coming around the corner, that the stork lights up!

Everything is fine at the hospital. Liz is in a little pain as she starts coming off some of the pain medicine. We've had a few visitors and the baby has started crying loudly when she's hungry. She's completely healthy and completely perfect--in fact the only trouble we're having is with burping...she's not real fond of the whole thing. I guess she doesn't find it very ladylike.

Pics are first, more videos down below!

Lily Elizabeth Fisher

WHAT A DAY!

We left the hospital room to go to Labor and Delivery at 3:00pm. By 3:45, Liz had the spinal done and was being wheeled in to the OR. I went in shortly after, and they had already started the C-section. Lily was born at 4:25. They quickly showed Liz and I the baby, then took her to the other side of the room to clean her off and measure her height and weight. Despite the fact that the amnio on Monday said the lungs weren't quite ready, she breathed on her own quite well. She's only really cried once since birth, and makes a purring noise--due to the little of amniotic fluid still in her lungs. She ate almost immediately and looks to be in pretty good health. THANK GOD! We've been praying for months that she only be healthy, and our prayers where answered! I've added more pictures and some movies below. Liz is doing well, but will be in the hospital probably until Tuesday. I've already gotten a couple of shots of the grandparents, and the other set of grandparents will be here on Monday--so expect many, many more pictures! She's not even a day old, and we're so proud of her already!
